Fear

By Ruhaan Bhargav, aged 14

A concealed force hides beneath us all,

Lurking in our minds, with its deceiving nature;

Expediting the trauma, expediting our fall;

Revealing our flaw. What a spiteful creature!

No one shall hide, no one can flee.

They will cry, and they will plead.

They shall all be possessed: so shall thee.

If this is its purpose, shall it be its creed.

Not the strongest survive,

It’s the smarter that do;

Not the smarter connive,

It’s the mulish that do.

Fear controls us, fear possesses us:

Fear is a tool, a tool that destroys us.
